A Call for Unity

A Call for Unity

Is it just a dream?
Or is it a vision of hope
Is it naivity to believe?
To believe in the value of honor
To believe in the value of trust

Am I naive to trust?
That we could come together
Hope together
Uniting one with the other
Becoming a force
A force to be reckoned with

Is the phrase
Unity is strength a farce?
Think with me for a moment
A universe without the sun and the moon
Complementing each other

A universe where the river never runs to the sea
Where no rainfall penetrates the earth's surface
Vitalizing the roots of the trees

Where the unity of male and female
Brings forth no birth
Where nature's elements no longer unite
To replenish mother earth

For what use is a vehicle without its engine
What use is an engine without its vital parts
What use is the human without a functioning brain
Without a beating heart

United elements make that old oak tree
Stand mighty strong and tall
United we stand
Devided, we fall

For The Record

For The Record

For the record
Let me emphatically impart
Putting pen to paper
I speak straight from the heart
I write not for fame and fortune
Or some other vain material award
To motivate one conscious thought
That for me is an acceptable reward

If I can sooth a troubled mind
With the lyrics I design
Convince some fearful souls
That the mountain they can climb
Then no appraise can define
The satisfaction I will find

For the record
Let me reiterate
Poetry is an art I totally appreciate
An effective tool I use to propagate
In dept thoughts I wish to communicate
And though my skill some do underrate
My passion for the art
Continuously radiates

These lyrics that I pen
My honor to defend
Rejected and despised
Maliciously categorized
Yet like the morning sun I rise
Eyes steadfast on the prize

For the record
I wish to make it crystal clear
That my commitment to the art
Is not for self aggrandizement or fanfare
But this gift this brother was granted
I do believe it was to share
To aid the troubled, and despaired
This is my motivation
Though some think me not sincere

For the record
These thoughts I wish you will arrest
Not penned, some fan-base to impress
Retaliatory inspired, this I will confess
To whom it may concern
It is written indirect

A Simple Thought

A simple Thought
Part 1

They water washed the name
Removed the chains; hence
The indentured Servant
Half bond and half free
Andrew Johnson himself a runaway
Later 17th President of the USA
And when they said we all were free
The Indentured Servant
Turned around and spat on me
And said the color of my skin
Means to him; I was born because of sin
The preacher preaches to the pew

This was after the shackles and chains
Forcing on the African the massa's name
We cried we begged we fought
For freedom is but a farce
Without the freedom of thought
There is no freedom
Because man has made himself a slave
Fulfilling the design as it changes with time
They plan they plot they scheme
Pursuing the green
Selling the American dream
Many have paid with their soul

I exist with space and time
Created from the atoms of the Universe
Born from nature on planet Earth
Is energized by solar source
So we need the sun
To energize and keep it warm
Creating all that you see
I am who I am
No longer who I was taught to be
I am my mind

Was designed by cult-ure
And the order of the day
Because I was taught what to do
And all that I should say
Parents wishing for their children
To achieve life's ultimate ideal
That perfect life
Imparts to them their beliefs
And the whats wrong and right
To life I say yea
To be continued another day

Why This Blogging Blogger Blogs

There are certain aspirations in life that people generally speaking, believe their calling or consider to be their gift; something that comes natural to them and the deep felt desire to perform this noted skill/talent. This is indeed the case with me when it comes to writing. I write because I love to, I write because it comes natural to me, I write because I bear this deep felt desire to express my thoughts; hoping that by so doing my writing may become a little spark that starts a necessary fire that will hopefully result in an eternal flame.

Yet, I must confess that I am indeed no avid scholar nor had any formal training in the art. In fact my schooling was very minimal in scope, which one may very well detect through my attempt to navigate my way into the art of blogging. I nonetheless scuffle on, adhering to the deep rooted desire that's anchored in my mind, in my being. Writing is something I have been doing on and off at different intervals of my life's progression. This began in my teenage years (while growing up on that little 144 square mile piece of Paradise that was renamed Jamaica by its former colonizers.) I wrote and performed a number of religious songs while I was a practicing member of the Christan faith, a faith that has a very strong presence on the Island and a philosophy to which I no longer pay credence. Later, in an attempt to elevate myself on a higher level of the financial ladder took to writing non-religious pieces with hopes of making it big in the broader and more secular segment of the society.

The fact that I have thus far survived the perils that beset the human endeavors of this planet and have lived to see changes which the world has made in the progression of time; and achieving through my various experiences what I believe to be an acute sense of who I am, have made me more enthusiastic about putting pen to paper. Writing with the hope of doing a little more than just entertaining for the purpose of glorification or monetary gain, but rather trying to impel a friend or foe to see through the telescopic vision of their mind something that already exists, but has been overshadowed by the strict mandate that it takes to survive the man made regiment of today's World Order.

So I have engaged myself in trying the art of blogging, and sure enough you the reader is now left with the task of critiquing, of judging my humble performance. My hope is that my trial at this craft may be found tasteful enough to warrant the time you spend adventuring through the maze that I have created in the attempt to engage your mind; for this is the foremost reason that this blogger has decided to test the field of blogging.
